Working out which skin care products to use can be a confusing task.
What products suit my skin type? What order do I use them in? How often should I exfoliate?
Keep reading for my top tips in setting up your own simple, effective AND enjoyable skin care ritual!
1. CLEANSE
Your skin care ritual should always start with the right cleanser. For sensitive, sensitised, dry or dehydrated skin, choose YourTime Skin Care Gentle Cleansing Milk. If you skin tends to be oily, prone to breakouts or combination skin type, choose Foaming Gel Cleanser.
Morning and especially at night, it is important to perform a double cleanse. The first cleanse will help to break down makeup, SPF, oil, dirt, air pollutants and anything else you may have collected on your skin throughout the day.
Your second cleanse will then help to give your skin a lovely deep cleanse, getting right into the pores and helping to clear any congestion.
2. EXFOLIATE & MASK
When it comes to exfoliation, it can be tempting to do it alll the time, when in fact LESS is more! You can use YourTime Skin Care Exfoliating Crystals 1-2 times per week, depending on your skin type. For sensitive or stressed skins, once per week is more than enough to help with the removal of dead skin cells. Sun damaged or ageing skins will benefit for exfoliation twice per week.
Exfoliating Crystals are a fantastic product as they are so easy to use, and customisable! All you need to do is mix a small amount of the crystal powder with your cleanser. Plus, you can choose the amount to add to decrease or increase your level of exfoliation. They also include 15% Vitamin C for brightening POWER!
Weekly or bi-weekly, you can give yourself a true self care treatment and apply a face mask. YourTime Skin Care offer two gorgeous masks, the Pink Clay Mask and the Hydrating Masque.
Pink Clay Mask is so soothing for your skin, with chamomile, aloe vera and calendula extracts. It helps to draw out impurities without stripping your skin of its natural oils, while providing essential nutrients for healthy skin.
Hydrating Masque is designed to deeply replenish your skin's moisture levels with hyaluronic acid and a plant based peptide. You can even use this one as a sleeping masque! Simply apply in place of your night cream, two nights per week.
3. TONER
Why should you use a "toner"?
YourTime Skin Care offers a beautiful product called Hydrating Mist, which is spritzed on to freshly cleansed skin. The benefits include increased hydration, balanced pH levels AND did you know that serums can better penetrate into damp skin? Morning and night, spritz on your Hydrating Mist and then immediately apply your treatment serum! More on that now...
4. SERUMS
Serums are the perfect way to add in specific active ingredients into your routine to treat a particular skin concern or condition. Serums have a smaller molecular weight than moisturisers and need to be applied BEFORE your creams! This is so that they can penetrate deeper into the skin and get to work!
5. EYE TREATMENT
Next step - Eye Gel or Cream!
Apply after serum, to the eye contour. The skin around the eye is the thinnest on the body, which makes it very delicate! Use a dedicated eye treatment to nurture this area.
6. MOISTURISE
The final step in your regime is your cream! (See what I did there?)
Apply your moisturiser to protect your skin and prevent trans-epidermal water loss.
In the AM, always apply SPF! Harmful UV rays can lead to skin cancer and rapidly ages our skin, so this is the most important step, every day! Even if you "won't be in the sun", you still have exposure through glass windows, when you're in the car, pop out to the clothes line or to grab a coffee. SPF ALWAYS!
At night, apply your hydrating & repairing cream. YourTime Skin Care Night Cream includes essential oils to help you relax and drift off to sleep!
So there you have it! Before I sign off, I wanted to mention one more thing about the YourTime Skin Care range.... Each product has its own number! This means you can apply your products in numerological order to save confusion. How easy!
